Mobile Devices
Some tips how to manage our mobile usage and effectively reduce cost of mobile
communication
• Plan your trip ahead and notify IT DESKTOP Support. You will require a US or international roaming
package on your device (voice and data).
• It’s very important to turn off the ‘Automatic Data Roaming” feature on your iPhone and iPads
when traveling. (We’ve recently received some very large data roaming charges on the Telus bill
that could have been avoided if the data roaming had been turned off).
• Please let IT Desktop Support know which devices you will need a roaming data package
(iPhone and iPad).
• Use hotel or any available Wi-Fi whenever possible
• Avoid downloading attachments on mobile device unless connected to Wi-Fi.
• Minimize the use of the iPhone for making calls while outside of Canada. If you’re within a Biogen facility,
it’s advisable to use the office phone instead
