 “So where am I supposed to stay?”
“I don’t know. I came up with your bail money and, be- sides giving you a ride, that’s all I can do.”
Sonny nodded. Rhonda reached over and patted his arm, but Sonny shrugged it off. “Devil’s waiting,” Sonny said.
“For what?”
“For you. For all of us.”
“Sonny,” Rhonda said. “You’re a rotten little retard and you’re nutty as a fruitcake and you’re right—the Devil’s waiting for you in hell, not me, not anyone but you— you’re the only one the Devil’s waiting for, because he
wants you all to himself.”
“So what,” Sonny said, turning away. “God made us all from clay, you know.” Rhonda, baffled and curious, drove in silence.

He is the co-founder of The Beacon Theater Company. He wrote and directed the feature film Open Spaces. In March, 2020, he retired after forty-five years working as a private detective.
