2. Build Understanding

For students who are having difficulty, explain to them several ways to simplify this process.
Factoring is much like dividing. If the numbers can be divided by the same number with no remainder, they
can be factored by that number.
If the numbers are the same, they can be factored down to 1.
Never attempt to factor two numerators or two denominators. Only one numerator and one denominator
can be factored together.
