Material Geo Cubes

Top view Front view Side view This page will allow students to practice
Side view their visualization and drawing of missing
Top view Front view Front view views through several problems. Before
allowing the students to begin work, note
1. Challenge them not to use geo blocks,

but use them if they feel they’re struggling
with the visualization.
2. Note that not every problem presents the
same two known views. The questions
will begin to vary. Take your time.
3. The same number of blocks will not
appear in every view of the figure. Some
of the missing views may have more
blocks than the known views, while some
may have less.

Have students solve the problems using the
rules of the game on the previous page.

12. Look Here, Look There 113

For students struggling with the concept of visualizing the missing view, solve the first problem on the page.
Example: Look at the top and front views of the figures on the page.
1. What do these tell us about the height of the figure? At its tallest the figure is two blocks high.
2. What do these tell us about the width of the figure? It is two blocks wide at the bottom and one block

wide at the top.
3. What do these tell us about the depth of the figure? At its deepest, it is two blocks deep.
4. With this information, what can we imagine the side view to look like? The same as the front view. Two

block high, with one block beside it, and two blocks deep at the bottom.
