not have homes. They are often
poor people. They do not have enough
money to buy a house. Sometimes, they
had a house, but maybe a storm or a
fire destroyed it. Life is very hard for
these people.
One group wants to help these people.
Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer group. They build houses for people all
over the world. Habitat for Humanity started in 1976. Since 1976, they have
built more than 500,000 houses across the world. Habitat for Humanity gets
money from many places. Many countries give money to them, and so do
many rich people.
When Habitat for Humanity builds a house for a person, that person has to
help build his house. Also, the house is not free , but it is much cheaper
than other houses. Habitat for Humanity uses money from the house
owners to build more houses.
