Factors and multiples

Factor is a number that is multiplied by another number to find a product.
When dividing 8 by 1, 2, 4, 8, there is no remainder and 1, 2, 4, 8 are called
factors of 8.

8_1=8 8_2=4 8_4=2 8_8=1

Multiple is the product of a given whole number and another whole number.
To find the multiples of 5, multiply by the counting numbers 1, 2, 3, and so
on. 5, 10, 15, 20… are multiples of 5.

5^1=5 5^2=10 5^3=15 5^4=20 …

Example 1 Complete the number sentences. Write all the factors of 6.

6_1=  6_2=  6_3=
