A WRITING A COMPLAINT LE T TER

If a product you have just bought doesn’t work correctly, or if a restaurant
has poor service, what should you do? You can write a COMPLAINT LETTER
when this happens. Here is what your COMPLAINT LETTER should include:
1. Begin with a positive comment.
2. Explain the problem.
3. Tell exactly what you want them to do for you.
4. End with a positive comment.
Don’t forget to be always polite and respectful. Never use angry words in
your COMPLAINT LETTER.

SAMPLE

Dear Sir or Madam,
My friends and I visited your restaurant on Saturday. The food was
very good. However, it took a very long time to be served. The adult
customers got their food very quickly. Please ask your servers to treat
kids like other customers. Thank you for reading my letter. I know you
will do the right thing.
