ASO Test
A person infected with group A -hemolytic streptococci produces specific antibodies
against these exotoxins, one of which is antistreptolysin-O. The presence of antibodies
to streptolysin O indicates recent streptococcal infection in patients suspected with
acute rheumatic fever or post-streptococca glomerulonephritis following throat
infection. The quantity of this antibody in a patient's serum will establish the degree
of infection due to the group A -hemolytic streptococci.
Principle:
The ASO Latex test contains polystyrene latex particles, coated with purified and
stabilized Streptolysin-O (Antigen) which reacts with its corresponding
Antistreptolysin-O (Antibody) in the test sample resulting in the agglutination of latex
particles.
Intended use:
This diagnostic reagent kit is intended for the invitro determination of
Antistreptolysin - O activity in serum by slide agglutination method.
