 wedding ceremony to the backyard of the main house, and reception would be on the front yard.
Six weeks before the October wedding, we sent a second formal invitation to the same people who were originally invited highlighting the new venue and weekend plan changes and outlining all healthy and safety precautions we would be taking (we decided not to “uninvite” any guests, but fully expected a smaller number of people would self-regulate). The number of accepting guests dropped from 350+ to slightly over 150 people.
The entire event would now be outdoors to create a safer, open space with fresh air for all guests. Social distancing protocols were in place. The ceremony chairs were all spaced apart at an appropriate distance, and we had standing room on the large porch for guests who wanted to be even more careful. For the reception, we used a very large open-air sailcloth tent. Even though we knew the guest count would be less than the original April date, we prepared the size of the tent, dance
