hints as we swung into full-time
planning for the meeting. Our
FDCC Canadian ambassadors
were critical to streamlining our
site visits and later, winnowing
down excursion lists, restaurants,
speakers, topics, etc.
Reflecting on some of the key
themes and experiences we shared
during our memorable week in
Toronto:
We had the privilege of hearing
from notable speakers, including
CNN and Sirius XM host Michael
Smerconish, who reminded us of
the importance of independent
thinking and civil discourse in our
increasingly polarized world.
Throughout our sessions, we
explored the concept of the
Platinum Rule - treating others
as they would like to be treated.
This principle is not only crucial
in our personal interactions but
also in our professional lives as we
strive to build more inclusive and
empathetic workplaces. Speaking
of organizational culture, we
delved into strategies for building
successful company cultures. As
leaders in our respective fields,
it is our responsibility to foster
environments that promote growth,
innovation, and collaboration.
Our time in Toronto would not
have been complete without
experiencing some of the city's
most iconic attractions- not the
least of which was our Hockey Hall
of Fame sport jersey themed night
for members and their families.
We immersed ourselves in the
rich history of Canada's beloved
sport. The passion and dedication
displayed in those exhibits served
as an inspiration for excellence
in our own pursuits. We also
had the chance to explore Casa
Loma, a testament to ambition
and architectural grandeur. As
we walked through its halls, we
were reminded of the importance
of vision and perseverance in
achieving our goals.
The Gala, on our final night in
Toronto, brought top notch food,
atmosphere, and music. It was
self-evident from the active dance
floor that attendees were having a
genuinely fun time.
Now, I cannot conclude without
mentioning the unexpected
appearance of our impromptu
"guest" - the streaker. While
certainly unplanned, this moment
of levity served as a reminder that
even in our most serious endeavors,
we should maintain our sense of
humor.
May we carry forward the spirit
of the Platinum Rule, the
commitment to building positive
cultures, and the dedication to
excellence we saw in Toronto. May
we continue to learn, grow, and
contribute to the betterment of our
profession and society at large.
Again, thank you, All, for your
participation and engagement.
