FDCC MEETINGS - Looking Back
There are truly many pillars of the
Federation that are built upon the sturdy
foundation of our many activities and
leaders since 1936. FDCC members
continue distinguishing themselves
through their service to the profession,
as well as to their clients, their respective
firms and companies and
within our organization –
and continue doing so today.
The following members were recognized at the 2024
Annual Meeting at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto,
Ontario, and presented with awards based upon
having selflessly given of their time and talents to
further advance the Federation and exemplifying our
commitment of truly being “over and above”.
Joseph R. Olshan Award is presented
each year to the Chair of a Board
Committee, administrative Branch
Committee or Project, initiative,
or Ad Hoc Committee whose work
has made the most outstanding
contribution to the advancement
of the Federation’s aspirational goals. It further
epitomizes the organizational skills
and dedication of Joseph R. Olshan
together with his character, warmth,
dedication and limitless contributions
to the Federation. The Olshan award
was presented to Valerie Kellner of
Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman &
Dicker, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Alan S.
Rutkin of Rivkin Radler, LLP in New York, New York
in recognition of their joint efforts in advancing the
Federation’s Communications Committee and growing
the FedSpeaks Podcast Channel.
John Alan Appleman Award honors the
Substantive Law Section Chair who has
made the most outstanding contribution
to the advancement of the FDCC’s
educational goals through the work of
their Section. This year, the award was
presented to Jody E. Briandi of Hurwitz
Fine in Buffalo, New York for her leadership as Chair of
the Law Practice Management Section.
Andrew C. Hecker Award is presented
to the author of the most outstanding
article in FDCC Insights during the year.
Francisco Ramos, Jr., of Goldberg Segalla
in Miami, Florida was presented with the
award for authoring the outstanding article
