The 2024 Corporate
Counsel Symposium
(CCS), held on
September 15-17 in
New Orleans, brought
together over 150
corporate counsel
and defense attorneys to tackle
tough legal challenges under the
theme “Solving the Hard Problems
in the Big Easy.” CCS is a bite-sized
version of the FDCC, delivering
impactful content in a condensed
timeframe that leaves members
eager for more at the annual
and winter meetings. This year’s
CCS brought the FDCC to a new
destination with renewed energy,
earning high praise from attendees
for its engaging content, delicious
dine-arounds, and first-class
accommodations.
With four Ted Talks, a dozen panels,
and more than 40 panelists, many
of whom were corporate counsel
members, it is impossible to recap
everything but here are some
notable highlights:
•
U.S. Magistrate Judge Janis
van Meerveld led a dynamic
interactive session where
participants played " Bingo"
to the theme of “It is Literally
Impossible to Be a Woman
[Lawyer]” from the recent
Barbie movie sparking
conversations on sexism and
bias that persist in the legal
community, particularly for
women.

A series of four engaging "Ted
Talks" featured corporate
counsel members sharing
personal and insightful stories
with real-world examples
of how in-house counsel
balance the demands of their
multifaceted roles within large
organizations. The speakers
highlighted the importance of
adaptability, strategic thinking,
