Kalorama Information, a healthcare market research
publisher, reported that consumers' out-of-pocket
spending on medical services rose to $486 billion last
year. Conservative estimates of annual increases range
from about 4.6% to about 8% over the next eight years.
It is the unexpected medical bills that will cause the most damage.
A recent survey by Amino of more than 1,000 Americans reported
that 74 percent said their health-care costs have gone up in the
past few years. Less than half do not budget for medical expenses.
