Turkey: The story of Turk sh cloth ng goes back to the m n atures and wall pa nt ngs found n

m ntan sh rts (loosely cut, collarless sh rts), a short kaftan w th a belt, and a r d ng trouser
that was loose at the top and narrow toward the bottom. Dur ng th s per od, woolen and
cotton fabr c was woven on handlooms, s lk came from Ch na, and due to the natural
cond t ons, leather, felt, sheepsk n, and fur were often used.

Fash on n the 19th Century

The fash on of the 19th century s renowned for ts corsets,
bonnets, top hats, bustles, and pett coats. Women's fash on

dur ng the V ctor an per od was largely dom nated by full sk rts,

wh ch gradually moved to the back of the s lhouette.
