14CFR PART 107 MYTHS

                  • My drone is under .55lbs (250g), rules don’t apply.

                     • Wrong, weight isn’t an issue under UAS rules.*

                  • I’m not getting paid, I don’t need my 107.

                     • It’s not recreational, you must have your 107

                  • I won’t get caught.

                     • Remember the “Hi, this is Vic Moss…” comment? Your competition can turn you in, or if it’s used in court,
and good defense attorney will do the research. Now we’re back to the “Hi, this is Vic Moss…”

                                                 49USC 44809

                                RECREATIONAL EXCEPTION

                  • There are 8 separate criteria that must be satisfied to fly under the
                     recreational exception.

                  • The first one is “The aircraft is flown strictly for recreational purposes.”

                  • So if you’re flying for a client or your company, you’re flying under
                     14CFR Part 107.

                  • No exceptions.
