Victim Centered Investigations

• Trafficking victims have frequently endured extended periods of
physical, emotional and sexual abuse

• It is extremely important for law enforcement and prosecutors to
recognize and respect the trauma that victims have experienced
while pursuing prosecution of the traffickers

• Survivors will often need psychological treatment, medical
services, and other forms of victim support in order to recover and
participate in prosecutions

• Investigators must be willing to accept that simply recovering a
victim may be the best achievable outcome
