On May 22nd Hidden Battles Foundation will hold its second Annual “22 For The 22” Road Ruck /Hike.
Hidden Battles is a non-profit organization that strives to help preserve the healthy minds of Military/Veterans, Law Enforce- ment, Fire, EMS, Dispatch, and Nursing through activity driven therapy and counseling for depression, suicidal tendencies, and PTSD.
This event is designed to bring awareness to the 22 Veterans we lose daily to suicide. They will gather and ruck around beauti- ful Newfound Lake, Bristol, NH.
The course is made of three distances: 5K, 10K and the full loop 18.5miles. This event is nottimednorisitarace.Itisa gathering for those who strug- gle, those supporting those who struggle, and those who want to bring awareness to this cause. It is suggested that participants carry the symbolic weight of 22 lbs., in your ruck, however it is not required. Will not be weighing them. Last year’s event, which was held on November 22nd, drew 57 participants. Most of
the participants completed the 10K but nearly 20 completed the whole trek. Along the course Ruckers/Walkers were greeted and offered words of encourage- ment by residents of Hebron, Bristol, Bridgewater, and Alexan- dria who stood on their porches and clapped for them as they passed. Often people slowed in their vehicles or stopped to shake their hands, to thank them for their service. Local businesses set up water and rest stations along the route.
The ruck, like last year will start and end at Kathleen’s Irish Pub 90 Lake Street Bristol, NH. Registration opens at 8am and kick off at 9am. You can regis- ter at Eventbrite.com using the key word “22 for the 22” or the morning of the event.
A complimentary pint of beer and a warm meal will be provided to all participants at the end of the course. Medals will be given to those who complete the 18.5 miles. Make sure you join and follow "Hidden Battles Foundation" on Facebook for contests and updates regarding this event.
The Walker family of Bristol joined other New Hampshire maple producers on March 20th and 21st to demonstrate all that goes into the age-old tradition of making maple syrup, while offering many of their own delicious homemade maple products for sale, too.
