The Driver’s Seat
Residents should continue to sit in the driver’s seat of their lives no matter where they live. They always have. Just because they now need assistance does not mean we should take control of their lives away from them. Are you as staff doing all you can to give autonomy back to residents or better yet, never take it away? From quarterly care conferences to every interaction, challenge yourselves to honor the driver while serving as supportive and caring passengers.
