Old Ways of “Honoring” People
What do you now think of designations like Resident of the Month, Meal of the Month and Employee of the Month? Sometimes these rote activities begin to lose their meaning. Someone may be chosen for a monthly award simply because someone needs to be chosen. Consider making such an award only on a case-by-case basis when someone goes above and beyond. This may make such awards more meaningful.
In our lives we put a child’s good report
card on the refrigerator and celebrate a raise or new job with a special dinner. We may reward quitting a bad habit with a special gift. Pointing out accomplishments and behaviors that benefit others is a great way to boost morale in the household and let each other know that they are appreciated.
