สวนพฤกษศาสตร์สมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสิริกติ์ กอตั้งเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2536 โดยองค์การสวนพฤกษศาสตร์ ในสังกดกระทรวง
ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อม ตั้งอยบริเวณชายเขตอุทยานแห่งชาติดอยสุเทพ–ปุย มีพื้นที่ประมาณ 6,500 ไร่

The Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden was established in 1993 by the Botanic Garden Organization under the ministry of the Natural
Resources and Environment. The garden in situated at the foothills of Doi Suthep-Pui, Mae Rim, Chiang Mai Province, covering
an area of about 1,000 hectares. The main objective of the garden are to serve as a center of Thai flora for conservation,
propagation and research, as well as an educational service center and ecotourism.

ในปี พ.ศ. 2537 สมเด็จพระนางเจ้าฯ พระบรมราชินีนาถ ทรงมีพระมหากรุณาธิคุณ
โปรดเกล้าโปรดกระหม่อมพระราชทานพระราชานุญาติ ให้ใช้ชื่อว่า
“สวนพฤกษศาสตร์สมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสิริกิติ์”

In 1994, the BGO received a great honor from H.M. Queen Sirikit to grant
a royal permission to name the garden after Her Majesty’s name
“Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden”
