Prepared comments for LegReg Committee and BOD (Wasn’t able to present)
In 35 years as a member of MAR I have disagreed with my friends, become friends with some of which I disagreed, but we always worked through it within the process, by the bylaws and policies and procedures. We never tried to undermine the structure.
That is not happening now and we need to step back and look at the facts so we can agree to disagree and start over as a team to evaluate the consequences, pull support of SB2624 until further studied and evaluated and protect the Integrity of the long established and approved political processes and procedures of our association.
This bill supports violators of license law, not the Realtor Code of Ethics, license law, NAR and MAR bylaws and policies and procedures, with our rights to go through the designated processes to change these. I question anything that goes against these values. In 35 years as a Realtor, major investor, Presidents Circle Golden R Hall of Fame, Past MAR President, 2020 NAR RVP, past chair of MAR hearing panels, recent local board president, LeadershipMAR Alum, longtime MRI instructor and vice chair MREC and a broker-owner, I have never seen the rules thrown out and manipulated as they been in this campaign to usurp the member approved legislative priorities and fool the members with lies and rumors. This was done outside the committee process and the board of directors and will divide this association.
Some of us in this board who openly disapprove of this legislation have been pegged as not active, or in the know. I can’t remember ever missing an MAR Board of Directors since being a member, so I believe that I can speak as one in the know. I will only speak to what I can back by evidence or personal knowledge that can be backed with proof.
