Historical biography of Herbert F. Robinson Arizona Societies Member Number One
This is the first of a series of historical biographies developed of the first 25 members of the Arizona Society to celebrate our 125th year.
Special thanks to Saguaro Compatriot Mark Andrew Davis who researched and developed each of the profiles. They contain photos he uncovered during his research as well as several generations of their descendants.

Herbert F Robinson, born 7 Jun 1866 in Lexington, McLean Co., Illinois2, son of Henry M. and Anna A. (Fulwiler) Robinson18. He became a member of the NSSAR in 1892 in the DC Society and General Robinson’s membership was transferred to Arizona as State member #1.
He worked as a Civil Engineer on many irrigation and general engineering projects including the role of Chief Engineer for the Santa Fe, Prescott and Phoenix Railway. He was
also part of the partnership of Stannard and Robinson in Phoenix. He served as Adjutant General of the Territory of Arizona 5 Aug 1898 to 1 Oct 1902. In addition to being a member of the SAR, he was a charter member of the Albuquerque Kiwanis Club. In March 1890 he enlisted as a Private in the Arizona Infantry and in 1891 was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant. In 1892, he was appointed to serve on the staff of Governor Irwin in the rank of Captain6.
He was married first to Lida Parce [DAR 31963] on 1 May 1890 at Maricopa Co., Arizona5. She was born Jan 1868 in Berrien Co., Michigan and died 16 Oct 1923 at Cook Co., Illinois. She worked as a school teacher and the couple had no children prior to their divorce.
He was married second to Mary Lititia Whisnant on 26 Jul 1909 at North Bend, Oregon4. She was born 29 Nov 1873 in Manitowoc Co., Wisconsin and died 1 Mar 1930 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Brigadier General Robinson died on 17 May 19561,2, aged 91 in
