... Through Whom we have gained access
by faith into this grace in which we now
stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the

glory [mercy and good pleasure] of
God. Not only so, but we also rejoice
in our sufferings, because we know
that suffering produces perseverance;
perseverance, character; and character,
hope. And hope does not disappoint
us. (Romans, 5:2-5)

And so after waiting patiently, Abra-
ham received what was promised. (He-
brew, 6:15)

Consider it pure joy, my brothers,
whenever you face trials of many
kinds, because you know that the test-
ing of your faith develops persever-
ance. Perseverance must finish its work
so that you may be mature and complete,
