Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith,
love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of
a pure heart. (2 Timothy, 2:22)
For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value
for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the
life to come. This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full ac-
ceptance. And for this we labor and strive, that we have put
our hope in the living God, Who is the Savior of all men, and
especially of those who believe. (1 Timothy, 4:8-10)
... Do not neglect your gift [the faith which is God's blessing]...
Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so
that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and
doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will
save both yourself and your hearers. (1 Timothy, 4:14-16)
... Do not treat prophecies with contempt. Test everything.
Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil. May God Him-
self, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through... your
whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of
... Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians, 5:20-23)
For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no
hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we
hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are
wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by
day. (2 Corinthians, 4:16)
