The benefits that algae confer on coral go even further. In a yet

they can form their own exoskeletons. Algae also produce a chemi-

cal substance that functions like a high-factor sun cream to protect
both themselves and the polyp they live on from harmful ultravio-
let rays. This substance is of great importance since it especially
manufactured in tropical regions where the Sun's rays are very
