One thing the Prophet (saas) said in the light of the above verses
was "Rejoice and hope for what will please you! By Allah, I am not afraid of
your poverty but I am afraid that you will lead a life of luxury as past nations
did, whereupon you will compete with each other for it, as they competed for it,
and it will destroy you as it destroyed them." by which he warned people

gence.

Dying is one of the foremost fears of those who
doubt or do not believe in the hereafter. Since they believe
that death will mean the end of everything, they therefore
cling desperately to this world. Yet, everyone will die at
the moment decreed for him by Allah, and there is no
means of escape from it. The Prophet (saas) also told peo-
