Gospel
No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love
the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You
cannot serve both God and money. (Matthew 6:24)
For the love of money is the root of all evil. Some people, eager for
money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with
many griefs. But you, man of Allah, flee from all this, and pursue
righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. (1
Timothy 6:10-11)
Torah
Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves
wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless.
As goods increase, so do those who consume them. And what bene-
fit are they to the owner except to feast his eyes on them?
(Ecclesiastes 5: 10-11)
TO BE HUMBLE
O you who believe! If any of you renounce your religion,
Allah will bring forward a people whom He loves and
who love Him, humble to the believers, fierce to the un-
believers, who strive in the Way of Allah and do not fear
the blame of any censurer. That is the unbounded favor of
Allah, which He gives to whoever He wills. Allah is
Boundless, All-Knowing. (Surat al-Ma'ida, 54)
...Your Allah is One God, so submit to Him. Give good
news to the humble-hearted. (Surat al-Hajj, 34)
