CALLING ON PEOPLE PATIENTLY AND GENTLY

Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and fair admo-
nition, and argue with them in the kindest way. Your Lord
knows best who is misguided from His way. And He
knows best who are guided. (Surat an-Nahl, 125)

It is a mercy from Allah that you [O Muhammad] were
gentle with them. If you had been rough or hard of heart,
they would have scattered from around you. So pardon
them and ask forgiveness for them, and consult with them
about the matter. Then when you have reached a firm de-
cision, put your trust in Allah. Allah loves those who put
their trust in Him. (Surah Al 'Imran, 159)
So remind them [O Muhammad]! You are only a reminder.
You are not in control of them. (Surat al-Ghashiyya, 21-22)

                      Gospel

Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct,
rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.
                      (2 Timothy 4:2)
Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were
your father. Treat younger men as brothers, older women as moth-
ers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity. (1
                      Timothy 5:1-2)
