an article published in 1998 in the evolutionist magazine Earth:
Today as we leave the twentieth century, we still face the biggest unsolved
problem that we had when we entered the twentieth century: How did life
                   originate on Earth? 141
                   Life's Complex Structure
The principle reason for the theory of evolution's being in such a gre-
at difficulty as regards the origin of life, is the fact that even those living
things which are thought of as having the very simplest structures actu-
ally have unbelievably complicated structures. The living cell is more
complicated than all of the technological products made by mankind. To
such an extent that not even the most highly developed laboratories in the
world can bring inorganic substances together and produce a living cell.
The conditions necessary for a cell to appear are many more than can
be explained by coincidences. The probability of proteins, the building
blocks of cell, being synthesized coincidenctally, is 1 in 10 950 for an avera-
ge protein made up of 500 amino acids. In mathematics, a probability
smaller than 1 over 10 is practically considered to be impossible.
                                   50
As for the DNA molecule, which lies in the nucleus of the cell and
contains genetic information, that is an unbelievable data bank. If a hu-
man being's genetic code were to be set down on paper it would fill a lib-
rary of 900 volumes of 500 pages each.
And here there is another most interesting point to add: DNA can
only replicate with the help of some specialized proteins (enzymes). Ho-
wever, the synthesis of these enzymes can only be realised by the informa-
tion coded in DNA. As they depend on each other, they have to exist at
the same time for replication. This brings the scenario that life originated
by itself to a deadlock. The well-known evolutionist professor Leslie Or-
gel, from San Diego California University, admits this truth in the October
1994 edition of Scientific American magazine:
It is extremely improbable that proteins and nucleic acids, both of which are
structurally complex, arose spontaneously in the same place at the same ti-
