WISDOM AND SOUND ADVICE FROM THE TORAH
... Through the fear of the Lord a man avoids evil. (Proverbs,
16:6)
... Always be zealous for the fear of the Lord. There is surely
a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.
(Proverbs, 23:17-18)
... What does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the
Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, to serve
the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,
and to observe the Lord's commands and decrees that I am giv-
ing you today for your own good? (Deuteronomy, 10:12-13)
It is the Lord your God you must fol low, and Him you must
re vere. Keep His com mands and obey Him; serve Him and
hold fast to Him. (Deuteronomy, 13:4)
The fear of the Lord is pure, en dur ing for ev er. (Psalms, 19:9)
Moses said to the peo ple "... God has come to test you, so that
the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sin ning."
(Exodus, 20:20)
He will be the sure foun da tion for your times, a rich store of
sal va tion and wis dom and knowl edge; the fear of the Lord is
the key to this treas ure. (Isaiah, 33:6)
If you do not care ful ly fol low all the words of this law, which
are writ ten in this book, and do not re vere this glo ri ous and
awe some name—the Lord your God—the Lord will send
fear ful plagues on you and your de scend ants, harsh and pro -
longed dis as ters, and se vere and lin ger ing ill ness es.
