books, you can find many details about how this image
forms in the brain. However, you will never come across
the most impor tant fact: Who per ceives these elec tro-
chem i cal nerve impuls es as ima ges, sounds, odors,
and sen so ry events in the brain? There is a con scious -
ness in the brain that per ceives all this with out feel ing
any need for an eye, an ear, and a nose. To whom does
this con scious ness belong? Of course it does not
belong to the nerves, the fat layer, and neu rons com -
