… They have hearts with which they do not under -
stand. They have eyes with which they do not see.
They have ears with which they do not hear. Such
peo ple are like cat tle. No, they are even fur ther
astray! They are the una ware. (Surat al-A‘raf, 179)
Even if We opened up to them a door into heav en,
and they spent the day ascend ing through it, they
would only say: "Our eye sight is befud dled! Or rath -
er we have been put under a spell!" (Surat al-Hijr, 14-
15)
Words can not express just how aston ish ing it is that
this spell should hold such a wide com mu ni ty in thrall,
keep peo ple from the truth, and not be bro ken for 150
years. It is under stand a ble that one or a few peo ple
might believe in impos si ble sce nar i os and claims full
of stu pid i ty and illog i cal i ty. However, "magic" is the
only pos si ble expla na tion for peo ple from all over the
world believ ing that uncon scious and life less atoms
sud den ly decid ed to come togeth er and form a uni verse
that func tions with a flaw less sys tem of organ i za tion,
dis ci pline, rea son, and con scious ness; a plan et named
Earth with all of its fea tures so per fect ly suit ed to life;
and liv ing things full of count less com plex sys tems.
In fact, the Qur'an relates the inci dent of Prophet
Musa (as) and Pharaoh to show that some peo ple who
sup port athe is tic phil os o phies actu al ly influ ence oth -
ers by magic. When Pharaoh was told about the true
