Weekly Symphony
Anna Duffy, Class of 2026
The seven days of the week are like seven symphonies. Monday is a song
of anguish as the sweet, easy weekend concludes, Monday is the song that
becomes a scapegoat for everyone’s failures. Tuesday is the hollow beat of
retentive mindsets while they recover their tasks for the week as the work for
the week begins to really kick in. Wednesday is a genial symphony that sings
out to the world that rest is near. Wednesday’s mellow melody has the power to
purge the pain of starting the work or school week. Thursday is the resolute
beat of the drums that sound the coming of the weekend. Thursday’s musical
number articulates to the people to finish their tasks, for the weekend is
coming. The forthright solo is music to every person’s ears as Friday basks in
the admiration of people when they go to parties and relax after a long week of
work. Flaunting its favoritism to the other days, Friday rehabilitates the
anxious, crowded mind into a calm, wonderful paradise with great finesse. The
symphony of Saturday is a pseudonym for pure joy. Saturday’s melody is the
birds that sing outside your window in the morning, and the lullaby of the wind
and trees that rock you to sleep at night. Sunday is a sounding trumpet of a
premonition, that tells of the week to come. Sunday marks the end of the
musical numbers, but it also resets the orchestra.
