ANNEX D
THE GUIDANCE COUNSELORS CREED
I must at all times realize that I am dealing with a distinct personality and that each individual
who seeks help does so with a great desire to grow. I must safeguard confidentiality and must
not succumbed into act of betraying my client. It is only when the opportunity is afforded for
a frank exchange of ideas that I can work at my best. I must be sincere and sympathetic at all
times. Coercion must not be practice. I must be able to command the attention and respect of
the client in a legitimate manner. I must have a definite technique-one which is essential to each
client.
I must be intelligently prepared. Sources of all helpful materials should always be at my
fingertips. I must never offer a final solution. I should be ever mindful of the theory of alternate
goals. I must always consider the existence of experts and specialists. I must make my client
leaves with a feeling that something positive has been accomplished to help him go on with his
life.
Above all, God should always be my armor amidst the rough edges of life. I must always be
thankful and ask Him to make me a faithful servant worthy enough to be in this helping
profession.
