   DEFINITIONS
BIPOC: Black, Indigenous, (and) People of Color DEIB: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
Anti-Racism: Grounded in growth and understanding, Anti-Racism at Laurel means identifying and eliminating practices, structures and policies that do not promote racial equity.
Restorative Justice: Restorative justice is a framework used to heal a community that has been harmed by destructive behavior.
Equity: The quality of being fair and impartial.
COMMITMENT
As students, employees, parents, trustees, volunteers, and alumnae of Laurel School, we acknowledge the impact of our words and our actions on others. We commit to share
in the school’s individual, communal, and institutional efforts to be an anti-biased, Anti- Racist school that promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. We understand that the School will not tolerate hurtful or damaging comments; exclusion of an individual or group; or insults, jokes, or other actions that are derogatory or discriminatory. The School’s reputation and success are determined by its work and by those who represent it. Our individual and collective conduct must reflect the standards of the School.
