Research involving human subjects must be reviewed by an ethics committee
to ensure that the appropriate ethical standards are being upheld in order to pro-
tect the dignity, rights and welfare of research participants. According to five
basic principles of ethics, which are to obtain informed consent from potential
research participants; minimize the risk of harm to participants; protect their ano-
nymity and confidentiality; avoid using deceptive practices; and give participants
the right to withdraw from your research.
Based on the case study, an ethical research can be conducted by informing
the subjects or participants on the purpose of the research, the methods being
used, the possible outcomes of the research, as well as associated discomforts,
inconveniences and risks that the participants may face. The research also cannot
put any participants in harm or any discomfort state. As the process of extracting
oocytes can cause physical risk and discomfort to the participants, therefore a
free treatment can be provided to them after they have donated their eggs.
Furthermore , the process should be done carefully without harming them.
Any fabrication or falsification is unethical when reporting data according to
Guidelines for Responsible Data Management in Scientific Research. When do-
ing research, never tamper with data or change any data. Your data should be rec-
orded meticulously. Records of raw data should be accessible in case an editor
asks for them-even after your paper has been published. This may help to prevent
any fabrication or falsification of data.
Research is formalized
curiosity. It is poking and
prying with a purpose.
