Supra – Automatic Gearbox
Diagnosis
• Is it the actual gearbox or is it the Mechatronics unit?
- Drop a small amount of oil out of the gearbox and smell it, if it has a pungent burnt smell and is very
dark in colour then the fault is most likely to be a mechanical gearbox fault and the gearbox will need
replacing, if there is no smell or discoloration of the oil then the cause is most likely in the
Mechatronics unit.
- Use Live data to check the operation and current draw of the solenoids on the Mechatronics unit
- Use live data to check Oil pump pressure
