Compound Round Brocade Knot
This modified knot shares the same knotting technique as the compound cloverleaf
knot, i.e. the ear loops of the basic round brocade knot are extended and the number
of wraps and pulls increased. The basic round brocade knot can be turned into one
with six outer loops by applying the pull one, wrap one technique on the ear loops.
TYING INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1. Make ear loop 1. Step 2. Make ear loop 2 and pull through 1. Step 3. Make ear
loop 3, pull through 1 and 2 and wrap around 1. Step 4.Make ear loop 4, wrap around
1, pull through 2, 3 and 1 and wrap around 2. Step 5. Make ear loop 5, pull through
1, wrap around 2, pull through 3 and 4, wrap around 1, pull through 2 and wrap
around 3. Step 6. Make ear loop 6, pull through 2, wrap around 3, pull through 4 and
5, wrap around 1 and 2, pull through 3 and wrap around 4.
Use the formula application on page 64 to tie this type of compound brocade knot
with multiple outer loops.
HINT
It is quite difficult to adjust and tighten the ear loops in this knot body because of the
many pulls and wraps involved. Hence, it is necessary to adjust and standardize the
curvature of each curving ear loop to achieve optimal aesthetic effect.
