Waking suddenly from her sleep, Merlose sat
straight up. Where am I? she thought. Looking
around, she realized she was in Mt. Bur-
Omisace. But how? Einar, she realized.
Scrambling out of bed, Merlose rushed
outside, but she had hardly passed through the
door when she crashed right into him. Catching
her, he held her back and smiled.

“How fare thee?” he asked. “Thou passed
out after the battle.”

“How did I get here though? Surely, thou
didn’t--”

“Carry thee? No.” Gesturing to the chocobo
behind him, he said, “I found a most useful
companion in the Feywood. Needless to say,
this cheerful friend is the one to thank for thine
good health.”

Eyes brimming, Merlose smiled. “A little
personality goeth a long way.”

Einar copied the quote, pleased. “Tis an
exemplary entry.” Facing Merlose, Einar said,
“When doth thee think thou willst be ready for
the next venture?”

Merlose stared. “I thought thou were
leaving.”

“Well… there are some things worth the
danger.” Einar grinned. “Like friends.”
Extending his hand, he said, “So, what say
thee?”

Smiling and taking his hand, she replied,
“Immediately.”
