hirty-three years have passed since Marilyn Silverman moved her small, home-based editorial operation from New York to Central Jersey. In 1982, Word Center Printing was born from her keen eye for detail and the need for professional printing services. Since those days, the shop’s
handiwork and customer service have remained soundly intact, while its products and offerings have found new avenues for expansion. Whether the client is looking for brochures, vari- able data mass mailings, business cards or multi-part forms, postcards, wedding invitations, or a professional resume, Word Center Printing has it covered.
In addition to specialized equipment, including a rare color digi- tal envelope model, and its access to high-quality paper stock and ink, Word Center has assembled a team that completes complex projects on time and on budget, including spouse and partner Jerry.
While the world of wedding and social invitations has certainly changed, the best bet for the region’s would-be brides and grooms is still local. “Lace, bows, ribbons, brooches, glitter—we design an ensemble based on the bride’s vision, produce a sample, and then hand-assemble each invitation set,” Silverman says. “We also print guest addresses on envelopes and place cards or seating charts, and design menus and programs. It’s all very rewarding.”
The longtime area outfit puts a high priority on investing in its fellow businesses and community. “We live in Hamilton and we shop local,” says Silverman, an active member of Hamilton’s Shop Local initiative. “We support local non-profits, schools, and politi- cal campaigns because we believe in involvement in our town.”
