Have a goal for the day, today and every day. If the hours seem to stretch
out (растягиваться) endlessly (бесконечно), it helps to have a goal to tend
to (к которой стремитесь). Call it forced (вынужденной) diligence or
busywork or whatever else, but when you know you need to do something –
and there are consequences (последствия) for not doing it – this zeroes in
your concentration on getting it done (закончить дело). There’s less time to
dwell on (зацикливаться на) sad thoughts. The list (список) of goals needn’t
be lengthy (длинным). It’s the fact that you have something you know you
want or need to do that motivates you to get started. When you’re busy doing
things, there’s less time to mope about (слоняться без дела).
Acknowledge (признайте) you feel sad. There’s no point (нет смысла)
denying (в отрицании) your emotions. Put a name to it (назовите) so you
can move on (продолжать/двигаться вперёд). This self-acknowledgement
(самопризнание) of melancholy robs it of its power (забирает у неё её силу)
over you and provides (обеспечивает) a pathway (путь) forward. Also,
recognize that it’s normal to sometimes feel down. There’s nothing wrong with
you because you feel sad. Sadness is a temporary (временно) (generally)
emotion, not a permanent (постоянное) condition (состояние).
Just keep going. You’re bound (вы точно) to hit a wall (пришли в тупик)
and want to quit at one time or another. Sometimes the reality you experience
is that feels like you want to crawl (заползти) under the covers and completely
blank out (отгородиться от) the world. Now is when you must call on
(призвать) your strength and determination. Keep doing what you have on
your agenda (на повестке дня), giving it your best effort. This will pay off
(окупиться) in a sense of accomplishment (чувством достижения), always
a good thing when you’re working to leave melancholy behind and get on with
your life (жить своей жизнью).
Keep your eyes and mind open. Opportunities require (требуют) that you
recognize them when they appear (появляются) and believe yourself capable
of (вы в состоянии) taking advantage of (использовать в своих интересах)
them. If you have a closed mind, you’ll never see them. Don’t miss your
opportunities because you’re blinded (слеп к) to them. Look, see and envision
