             5. When can you have a leverage?
Hello everyone. This is self - made (самоучка) millennial (миллениал). I am
Madeline Mann, and today I will tell you 12 things that you should definitely
(точно) not say in job interviews. These are things that people say all the time,
and you might think they are harmless (безобидный), but it actually losses
them the job (из-за этого не найдут работу). For highly (высоко) modern
(современной) and actionable (выполнимой) career and job search tips from
the person in HR and recruiting (тот, кто набирает на работу) who has seen
it all (кто выдел многое), make sure you subscribe (подпишитесь) to this
channel and hit the bell (нажмите на колокольчик) to get a new video every
Thursday. I am in these interviews; I am also the one who hears back from all
the interviewers to hear their feedback about the candidates. And, yes,
avoiding these phrases will put you way ahead (поставят вас на голову
выше) of your competition (конкурентов) who isn’t sitting here on YouTube
improving (улучшить) your career. Give yourself a round of applause
(похлопайте себе), a sitting O, a seal (печать) of approval (одобрения), arr,
arr, arr. And stick around (подождите) for number 12, because I’ll tell you
the most important question that you will be asked in an interview, and what
the worst answer is, which is actually one of the most common answers. You
could be making this mistake and losing the job. But I will help you. And what
                is the worst answer?
Number one, don’t ask about salary and benefits (выгоды/преимущества) in
the first call. Let them bring it up (поднять эту тему). It makes you come off
(показаться) as extrinsically motivated (внешне мотивированным) and
thinking, hey, what’s in it for me. Instead of focusing on mutual fit between
you and the company and the role. Now, also the longer you wait to talk about
compensation, often the more leverage (рычаг давления) you have to
negotiate. That’s the name of the game people. I don’t make the rules, I make
the videos. So it’s in your best interest to actually hold out (протянуть). I’ll
link a popular video on how to negotiate salary on the screen and in the
                description.
Exercise 255. Fill in the blanks using the words from the table above and
                translate the words in bold.
                 record persistent to run this
                 Off the top consider menial
                 earn determined in shifts

                 caring next week seems
