Exercise 271. Watch the video 2.23 and answer the questions.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prW5jqJ6xwA
Answer the questions:
1. What is the tip number four about?
2. Who is a resume sprayer as it seems to you?
3. How can an author tell who is a resume sprayer?
4. Does she give a resume sprayer a chance?
5. What is author’s advice?
Number four – don’t ask what the company does. I don’t remember your
company, I just applied to a lot of jobs, can you give me a refresher (освежить
мне память)? Don’t say that! I can almost always tell when people are resume
sprayers (частят с рассылками резюме). So when they just look at the title
of the job description (описание) and they shoot their resume over
(рассылают везде) without really reading much about the company or really
reading the job description. I can tell because their resumes are really generic
(типовые). And they either don’t include a cover letter or they include a cover
letter that’s a complete template (шаблон). So pointless (бессмысленно).
Though if they’re qualified (квалифицированы) I will sometimes go against
my best judgement (идёт против моего мнения) and reach out
(обратиться) to them. And ya’ll, they always disappoint (разочаровывать)
me. They’re always scattered (разбросаны) and unprepared
(неподготовлены) for the call. So I’ll link a full playlist of how not to be a
resume sprayer in the description, since this topic is too big to cover here. But
you absolutely have to understand what a company does at a basic level before
ever going into an interview with them. And never say you don’t know what a
company does to someone who you’re speaking to at that company. A fine way
to put it (хороший способ сказать) is something like, I’ve read a bit about
your company and I was very interested in the work you’re doing. I would
love to hear more about the company from your perspective (с твоей точки
зрения). Now that’s perfectly fine. You need to know something about the
company, but you definitely (точно) don’t need to know everything.
