Having Fun is Jennifer Baker’s Goal
Meet Jennifer Baker. She has been married for six years and has a beautiful daughter that is the center of her world aside from rac- ing of course. She and her husband love to spend time together work- ing in the garage and racing. They love going for rides on their side by side and hanging at their favorite watering hole-- MooseJaw Junction.
Some advice she got while
she was in high school was “It is what it is, deal with it.” This has stuck with her over the years “be- cause things ARE what they are, no matter how much you complain, you probably can’t change it.” she said. “Another quote that has been
a large portion of my world is “go until you see God then turn left.” These words were said to me just before my first race and replay in my head be- fore every race.”
As a kid, Jennifer played with cars AND dolls. Her favorite tv shows are Criminal Minds, S.W.A.T. and Street
how she did and asking to see pictures. When she is not racing, she en- joys hanging with her daughter and rid-
ing the side by side.
Jennifer started racing at the age
of 16 in a powder puff race and loved it. She waited until she was able to pur- chase a car of her own and has been racing ever since, although she has been racing any- thing she could get her hands on since she was knee
high to a midget. Her most mem- orable race was her debut race with a checkered flag finish in the
feature.
Her marketing
partners are Diesel Freaks for the 2019 season, Blumke Bro Redi Mix and Ex- cavating, Northwest Hydraulics as well as family and friends.
It didn’t take any one or any- thing to get her interested in racing. She has always been one of the boys and knew she just had to do it.
She and her husband work on her car. She races it and she helps fix it.
She has won multiple races at Kinross Speedpark and Onaway Speed- way, in her Chevy Camaro tube chassis with a 355 V8. She runs in the ABC class, which is similar to the pure stock, pro stock and sportsman classes.
She was was once hit so hard by a guy that had lost his breaks, that her helmet hit her rollcage.
There are very few women that race against Jennifer, typically just one other female and the two of them are friends. Her main goal is to have fun when she is racing. For Jennifer, having fun means you are a successful driver. She enjoys being an idol for young fe- males, and encourages them to come to the races.
Jennifer chose her car number as 32, after her daughter’s birthday, March 2. She loads her own car and hauls it herself. The last time someone else did it, it came unhooked and was rolling back and forth in the enclosed trailer... NOT GOOD!
