North Dakota’s Brayden Pengilly Enjoys Sprint Car Racing
Brayden Pengilly, from langdon, ND started racing go karts when she was 7 years old. Before that, her dad had raced and decided to get Brayden and her brother
involved as well.
A couple of her fa-
vorite memories were doing a complete 360 in the air in her heat race, and starting at the tail in the B-main and trans- ferring to the A-main. An- other not so favorite memory is from her last year of light- ning sprints. She rolled end over end about 7 times and ended up in the ER, but was OK.
Her marketing part- ners include AllAgOnline, D&B Motors in Langdon & Park River, ND; Langdon Implement, Mostad Insur- ance and Dairy Queen all lo-
cated in Langdon.
Brayden’s dad en-
couraged her to get involed in racing, and it’s usually just her and her dad who work on the car. Her mom goes to the races when she can, along with her brother, his wife and their daughter, and her sister, brother-in-law, and nephew.
This past summer Brayden had three top finish- es. Her home track is River Cities Speedway, but they do sometimes travel around the upper Midwest. She races a 410 Sprint Car in the North- ern Outlaw Sprint Car Asso-
ciation, 410 Sprint car class. Sprint cars do not have as many females rac- ing, and there are no other women in her sprint car class, however there are others at her track and Brayden tries

to be friends with everyone. Her racing career goal is to become a full time, competitive driver in World of Outlaws.
We asked Brayden what is her favorite part of being a race car driver and what does it take to be successful? and she said, “I would have to say the fans that come to the trailer after the races, they don’t understand how much they mean to a racer, they are probably one of my biggest motivators. To be a successful driver, you have to better yourself every time you strap into the car.”
Her car is #12. She remembers choosing it by looking at a picture on their garage wall from a thank you picture of a guy her dad used to build engines for. “Im not 100% sure, I was only 8 years old.” she replied.
Brayden is currently enrolled in college, pursuing a career in nurs- ing. She is the youngest of three children, and “Auntie” to three amazing kids. Her favorite foods
