John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid

Preparing for another day, I seek your ways again. Concentrating all the time, aware of every stain.
I screw my will up in my head, determined not to sin,
But somehow, in my thoughts and words, the evil still gets in.
It seems that walking in your path can be so very hard The effort that I daily make, just to hold my guard.
I try to raise a heavenward gaze, and see you as my strength, But in my weak humanity, I hold you at arms length
I don’t feel like your soldier
I don’t feel I can win
I don’t feel like I’m close to you Instead I feel my sin
I don’t feel I can run the race
I don’t feel worth your care
I don’t feel I have earned your love Instead I feel despair
But Jesus, you have walked this path, Of separation, pain and loss.
You chose to give yourself away
To death on lonely cross.
You did this for my sake, I know As a lamb with spotless fleece You chose to give yourself away To give to me your peace
So the only work I need to do Is to follow where you lead You promised me your peace As a gift I sorely need
