Having developed a positive, proactive vision for Hopwell, this would need to be underpinned with a range of planning and technical inputs to promote the scheme through the Local Plan process towards allocation. The statutory Local Plan remains the best and most realistic process by which to address the Green Belt issues, and therefore the site will need to engage with this process with vigour and energy.
The team that we have available is already experienced in this area – they have worked on the nearby Toton HS2 and Chilwell Depot sites recently. They achieved the successful allocation of the Chilwell Depot site for residential development in the Broxtowe Local Plan, and completed a Development Infrastructure Funding study for the Toton HS2 development zones for a local authority consortium led by D2N2 LEP.
