Reinstatement of Agricultural Subsoils
Proposed replacement Vs. reinstatement of stabilised subsoils after works
Our proposal is that temporary haul roads/working platforms that are no longer required are pulverised to granulate and used as self
compacting stabilised backfill material for pipe trenches and openings. Allowing the locally excavated trench subsoil material to be
placed where the haul road previously was – before the saved topsoil is over placed to complete reinstatement. This process would
avoid the need for full biological reinstatement of the stabilised layer and provide a reduced compensation opportunity for farmers
and their land agents.
Whilst the logistics sound complicated it offers a sustainable and sensible reuse of materials that meets environmental standards.
