RESEARCH EXCELLENCE
In its pursuit to become a management reference centre, UUM has taken
serious measures to excel in research. This is demonstrated through
the commitment towards Research Excellence as one of the important
thrusts in its strategic planning. Against its prime objective of creating
an impactful research and innovation eco-system, this thrust comprises
three main dimensions, namely, research, publication and intellectual
property. Under the research dimension, indicators for research funding
and principal investigators are set; while the publication dimension
mainly focuses on Scopus journal publications and citation index. As for
intellectual property, efforts towards generating copyrights, patents and
start-up/spin-off companies are highlighted. For that purpose, strategies,
such as: (1) increasing research, publications and citations; and (2)
inculcating an innovation culture are adopted. Five KPIs and 41 PIs are
used to measure research excellence.
