ALIEN INVASIVE SPECIES
RESULTS
KPI 1 | ALIEN PLANT SPECIES
Alien plant species control continues in the form of
mechanical removal where necessary, however, Karingani
has no dense stands or prominent occurrences of alien
plant species. Only one new record of alien plant species
was reported during the reporting period (prickly pear).

KPI 2 | ALIEN ANIMAL SPECIES
Since the completion of the Eastern boundary fence, alien
animal species in the form of livestock have not had access
to the reserve. Zero incursions of livestock occurred during
this reporting period.
One domestic cat was reported in and around CSU staff
accommodation.
In this reporting period, seven hunting dogs were
euthanised by security teams on their entry into Karingani.
A total of twenty-five individual hunting dogs were sighted
during this reporting period.

Selective trapping and euthanising of alien rat species
continues in all staff population areas.
KPI 3 | DISEASE CONTROL
No instances of disease were reported or
discovered during this reporting period. This is in
comparison to the six cases of naturally occurring
anthrax that were recorded last report period.
